What if time machine was invented? What if you will be given the chance to talk to your younger self? What will you do? Would you consider talking to them or giving them some advice? However, you can’t do that. You can’t go back and tell your younger self what to do. You know what you can do? You can tell your story–about your younger self.
Child Mind Institute created a movement called #MyYoungerSelf. As stated in their website, there will be actors,social influencers, athletes, businesspeople and other people are sending messages of hope about their experience growing up with having a learning disorder or mental health. Their vision is to end the stigma by giving hope and support to the young people who will going to hear the message.

One-month of story sharing
Since it’s the Mental Health Month, the said #MyYoungerSelf movement is timely. According to Mental Health America (MHA), the theme for this year’s Mental Health Month is “Fitness #4Mind4Body”. MHA added that its focus will be on the things that individuals can do in order to be fit for their own futures and personal journeys to health and wellness.
Every day, there will be one individual who will going to talk about what they’ve felt back then. Every person can tell a different story. Those stories can change the perspectives of the younger people. It will be the teens’ support and hope. Through your story, you can give courage and life.
Focuses on younger people
As told by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), “for a young person with symptoms of a mental disorder, the earlier treatment is started, the more effective it can be. Early treatment can help prevent more severe, lasting problems as a child grows up”. And this is what the campaign aims. To stop the stigma as they were still young.
How beautiful it would be if you will know that there is someone who have been in your shoes back then? Knowing that they made every impossible things possible by only just believing in themselves. If you have something to share, don’t be afraid to send in your messages and let the younger people know your story. Your story of joy, sadness, perseverance, and hope.
Makes everyone involved
You don’t need to be a celebrity to share and give a hope to a person. All you need to do is to be yourself. Share your story and how you cope up with your mental health issues. You may think that your story is a pure nonsense, but to others it can be a story of courage and dedication. You may never know, you might create an impact to the younger generation.
Sometimes, people tend to belittle their story, telling themselves that they won’t make a change. If you are this kind of person, please do know that your story is not ordinary. Every person has an extraordinary story they can share. Your story can create an impact. Your experiences, dreams, goals, and aspirations can be someone else’s inspirations.
